Bird, cats, bears and ducks.
So it turns out that once a kid knows he can have his face painted, it’s something that has to happen every day, with lots of touch ups, oh about 5 per day.
Besides that the sea is melting under great stormy skies and the ducks are many.
The weeks are really starting to run into each other as we have a pretty consistent weekly routine. This makes it less interesting to post anything as nothing is very new and exciting. And like at home winter is going on for a lo-o-o-ng while now
Spring… (well officially anyway)
and unofficially….Winter
We have been busy with face-painting, thrift shopping and walking around this, still in my opinion, beautiful city.
So very very cold….. minus 27.
The windows were ice,
the bikes remained frozen into place,
and everything was crispy.
We had to stay inside pretty well all the time, but we kept ourselves entertained.

In which Henry turns THREE!
Early morning birthday presents,
a crocodile cupcake picnic party with his friends,
and finally out for ice cream.
All in all, a very excellent birthday.
SNOW
It’s funny, for a while it seemed that it snowed every day in Helsinki, the accumulation was amazing…6 metres (19 feet!) of it on one of those islands in the Baltic Sea between here and Tallinn and that was at Christmas. One can only imagine how much is there now.
But then it suddenly didn’t snow much at all anymore…about a, hmm, 2 week reprieve. But then it started again. Such an amazing amount in such a short period of time. It was pretty amazing wandering around in it. And Helsinki being Helsinki just dealt with it; life went on as usual, with maybe a few fewer people around.
Of course what kid doesn’t love fresh falling snow?
